Description
The vermillion cliffs are not pictured in this photograph they are behind this house. However, the boulders that provide the foundation of the house rolled off the cliffs sometime in the past. Blanche and Bill Russel were passing by the area in the 1920s and decided to use many of the large boulders to build a house, store, gas station and other dwellings. Although the buildings are no longer used, there is a nice motel just down the road with a store and restaurant and these original structures are sure worth photographing and inspecting.

Hi Ginger, This photo was taken in Northern Arizona along the Vermillion Cliffs (Highway 89A). It is on the way to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon just past the Navajo Bridge (photo "Duel Bridges" on my website). There are other structures as well. There is also a lot of great photography in that area, i.e., on my website Painted Mountains, The Wave, View of the Past, Branches, Waves of Stone, Life is Good, and Duel Bridges. So if you go to that are, you will not be lacking for photo opportunities, it is well worth the trip. Enjoy!
