Description
Ferrari sports cars are legendary not only in the race world but as a coveted sporty car for many enthusiast throughout the world. It is only fitting that this artistic photograph depicts the speed synonymous with the name Ferrari.
The horse was initially the sign of the famous Count Francesco Baracca, who painted it on the wing of his plane. He was a legendary professional of the Italian Air Force during World War I. The initial prancing horse on Francesco Baraccas airplane was depicted in red on a white cloud-like form, but Ferrari decided to have the animal in black. Black was chosen to symbolize grief for Count Berracca after the airman was killed in battle. Francesco Baracca died when he was shot down at age 30 during combat on June 19, 1918. However, he achieved 34 victories prior to his death.
Ferrari added a canary colored background, as this was the symbolical color of Modena, Ferraris birthplace. The symbol is usually crowned with white, green and red strips that symbolize the Italian national colors.
