Artist's Description
Near Kayente, Arizona, is Agatha Peak. The peak is a 1500 foot eroded volcanic plug that is 25 million years old. The English designation "Agatha" is derived from the Navajo name aghaal'a, meaning "much wool". Apparently for the fur of antelope and deer accumulating on the rock. The mountain is considered sacred by the Navajo. It is part of the Navajo Volcanic Field in the Southern Colorado Plateau.
About Richard Gehlbach
Two of my passions are traveling and photography. I caught the traveling bug when I was in the military. The love for photography actually developed when I was trying to capture memories of my children as they were growing older. What better way to spend my retirement than to travel and try to improve my photographic skills. I hope you enjoy these photographs. Photographs can enhance the beauty of your home or office. They can bring light into a room or happiness into your heart. Thank you Christopher for your kind words. The clouds, lighting, and blue sky just seemed to be cooperating for me that day. Sorry for the slow response, i was camping in the boonies.
