Description
We all remember the late 60s and the early 70s. If you dont because you were too young, it was an era that was filled with freedom, war, love, protest, promiscuous behavior, civil rights issues, rock and roll, drugs, the beginning of nudity in movies, laughing, crying, riots, and of course, Woodstock. I dont believe there was ever a time in our history where so many issues of such a diverse nature were occurring all at the same time. That being said, there was the flower power and free love associated with that era as well. That was one of the beautiful things during those troublesome times that allowed us to focus on the good in mankind.
The Volkswagen Beatle, or bug as it was known, was just one of these common symbols. Other symbols were flowers, the two fingers peace sign, the upside down Y peace symbol, flower hair rings, flowing white dresses, bare feet, minimal living conditions, and much more.
This photograph of a green VW bug along with the peace symbol, white, yellow, and pink flowers are a reminder of a time in our history where, good or bad, our life was full. It is a simple photo that symbolizes the uncomplicated lifestyle adopted by many young people of the time, known as Hippies.

Geraldine Scull
lovely artwork and composition with great colors!
Richard Gehlbach replied:
Thank you Geraldine. It was therapeutic as well, taking me back to a more carefree time. Creating it was fun. Love your photos, I'm a bit of a spaz in that I need to slow down and be patient. Your photos show a lot of patience, great lighting, composition, and a good eye for subject matter. I'll get there some day, thanks for the kind comment.
