Description
The Wave is the appropriate name for a location on the Utah, Arizona border. In the Southwestern United States natures winds have sculpted the sandstone mountains and created a hiking and photography paradise called the wave. The Bureau of Land Management controls this location in an effort to manage the number of visitors and by doing so, attempting to protect the fragile environment so other generations may enjoy the beauty. Persons wishing to visit the site must enter a lottery and be selected. Those that are will never forget the beauty of Mother Nature’s art. It is a fantastic location for hiking and Photography; however, it is also an unforgiving and deadly location for those who enter unprepared.
The Wave is a high desert location sitting at an elevation of 5225 feet (1593m) It is arid and often windy. Even on relatively comfortable temperatures it is necessary for those hiking in to carry enough water, snacks and appropriate equipment. Visiting the website and adhering to the safety information is highly recommended. Several people have lost their lives and it could have been easily avoidable
